Frequently asked questions

Clear answers to recurring questions. Individual cover always depends on the specific policy and risk.

Which insurance does a farm need?

This depends on the type of farm, buildings, machinery, livestock, land, forest, vehicles, employees and ancillary activities.

Is forest fire automatically insured?

Not under every policy and not always at an adequate limit. Forest areas, timber, clean-up and reforestation must be reviewed expressly.

What happens in the event of underinsurance?

If the sum insured is below the actual value, compensation may be reduced. Buildings, contents, machinery and stock should be revalued regularly.

Are photovoltaic systems on the farm insured?

Depending on the contract, they may be covered under buildings, machinery or electronics insurance. Loss of revenue, surge, storm, hail, animal damage and batteries require separate review.

Are animals automatically covered under liability insurance?

Livestock and its business use must be described correctly. Special species, grazing, events and direct sales may create additional exposures.

Are ancillary activities such as farm holidays covered?

Only if they are disclosed and included in the risk description. The same applies to direct sales, contract work and events.

How are machinery and equipment insured?

In addition to fire and natural hazards, machinery breakdown, operating error, electronics damage, transport and interruption may be relevant.

Who assists with claims?

We support notification, evidence, documentation, communication with insurers and the preparation of the claim.
